Hi I was really pissed of when I tried Ubuntu 8.10 for the first time. I noticed that the window decorators fail to redraw when I use Compiz. So until now I was set back to 8.04. Now that I am waiting for my new Quad machine I had prepared the system to move on and to successfully migrate I had to upgrade to 8.10. So I found the solution to the problem. ( searching the web )
The solution consist in modify xorg.conf and adding a line in the Device section Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" Driver "nvidia" Option "NoLogo" "True" Option "RenderAccel" "0" #( ADDED LINE ) EndSection
So far everything works like a charm, I noticed that the Gnome works slightly faster with Compiz now then it was runing before with (RenderAccel) enabled.
I hope this journal will help someone.
